. >> chuck schumer, harry reid, nancy pelosi, eric cantor, and john boehner will be headed over there. first, president obama began with the slogan hope and change. then he got a jolt of washington reality. we'll take a look back at the some times rocky road of the first term. >> we've seen that crowd building, craig. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. the crowd, indeed, has been growing throughout the morning. say hello. say hello. before you get from the u.s. capital behind me, the less it is like an inauguration, the more it is like a block party/picnic. folks from texas, buffalo, new york, who have said several times this is far from cold. i do want to -- where are you from? >> from new jersey. >> reporter: from new jersey. first inauguration? >> yes, it is. >> reporter: what brings you out? >> obama all the way. >> reporter: how about you? where are you from? >> trenton, new jersey. >> reporter: oh, this is all jersey here? i should have known by the rowdiness. and where are you guys from? >> atlanta, georgia. >> reporter: from atlanta. sorry about the falcons but we

it's been four years since senate majority leader harry reid has brought a budget to the floor of the united states senate. you can build a pentagon three times in that time frame. it's time that -- to pass a budget out of the united states senate and senator reid should not be paid until it's done. the house has acted responsibly. we have met our deadlines, we have set our priorities, i was part of the house budget committee when we put together budgets that try to get our out-of-control spending under control and rein in our $16 trillion in debt. the sfat has not acted one time in that time frame. it's time to make the hard choices and do the work necessary to restore fiscal responsibility to washington. it's time for senator reid to pass a budget or withhold his paycheck. thank you, i yield back the balance of my time. the speaker pro tempore: the gentleman yields back. we'll have order in the chamber, please. for what purpose does the gentleman from minnesota seek recognition? >> i ask unanimous consent to address the house for one minute, revise and extend my remarks. the speaker

reid apparently made clear he didn't want a deal. no deal. so there was no deal. and now the sequestrations are about to take place. the speaker pro tempore: the gentleman has 22 minutes remaining. mr. gohmert: so we had a debt ceiling bill that was undermined from the beginning, no deal was reached, sequestration, massive cuts to our national security, our national defense. would be inflicted. and massive cuts to medicare. our leaders responded to me that , gee, the democrats will never allow the cuts to medicare, the sequestration to medicare, $300 billion or so, they'll never allow that. that's why we know the supercommittee will reach an agreement. i advised them that that would not happen. there would be no agreement. of course they're willing to have $300 billion or so cut to medicare because obamacare cut $00 billion from medicare, from our seniors' care, without a single republican vote. so the only way the democrats could run a commercial last year, 2012 with any sincerity at all saying, gee, republicans are cutting medicare
